Glendal’s Instructional Model

Glendal Primary School’s instructional model is a comprehensive, student-centred approach that integrates the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0 with school-wide practices to ensure high-quality teaching and learning. It is built around a gradual release of responsibility framework (I Do, We Do, You Do) and is underpinned by the school’s core values: Respect, Responsibility, Teamwork, Community, Creativity, and Resilience.

Phases of learning:

Glendal’s instructional model guides students through five phases: Engage with prior knowledge, Explain through explicit teaching, Explore via inquiry and creative thinking, Elaborate through reflection and application, and Evaluate using feedback and assessment to inform future learning.

Differentiated and Inclusive Practices:

Glendal Primary School supports diverse learners through targeted, support and extension groups. Students engage with content multiple times using graphic organisers, open-ended tasks, and projects. The model fosters student agency, leadership, and voice, ensuring all learners are actively involved in their education.
