First Lego League

Well done to the FLL Robotics team – the CosmoBots who won the Project Presentation Award at the Sydney Championship this weekend.  The competition was tough with 69 teams competing in this Australian final.    800 teams entered the competition from around Australia this year – a huge increase over the past two years.

They were also one of only 6 teams who were invited to submit an application to the Innovations Awards in Washington DC, USA – if then shortlisted again they go to Washington next semester to present their project – a great honour!

Fantastic work CosmoBots.

Foundation Athletics Day

As a celebration of our great physical education learning this year, we are holding a Foundation Athletics Day on Friday 14 December between 9:30am and 11:00am.  During this time, students will be involved in a range of sporting activities in the Glendal school grounds, with the 2019 School Leaders running each of the activities, supported by the teachers.

Students are encouraged to wear their House Colours:

Bradman (red)                 Clarke (yellow)                         Newcombe (blue)            Wickham (green)

They should also ensure that they wear hats, apply sunscreen and carry drink bottles with them throughout the event.

Parents are invited to attend our Athletics Day events and cheer on the students, so we look forward to seeing you there if you are available.

Science Talent Search 2018

Thirty-three Year 3, 4 and 5 students were invited to participate in Science Talent Search (STS).
This project offers students an opportunity to pursue a scientific topic of interest to them, and in turn, gain a broader
understanding and application of science and technology in our everyday world.
They have a forum to communicate and present their knowledge and skills to a wider audience and also receive
recognition for their efforts and achievement at a state level.
The STS theme for 2018 was Australian Game Changers and Change Makers
They are invited to research and present a point of view about a scientific topic through one of these media: poster,
creative writing, experimental research, photography, games, models and inventions or computer programs.

All of our students received an award. An amazing achievement! Our school received an award to the value of $300, acknowledging the students’
achievements and the diversity of the entries.
